Learning the Cherokee Writing System
The Cherokee writing system is called the Cherokee Syllabary or Sequoyah’s Syllabary. It is a syllabic system. The syllables a, e, i, o, u, and v are each represented by a character. The consonant s is represented by a character. The rest of the characters represent Consonant-Vowel and Consonant-Consonant-Vowel combinations (e.g., ga and gwa, respectively).
